imfl rr

Ok posting my race report from Fl. This was my first Ironman and the weather was perfect. The morning started with half a powerbar at 230 2 more hours of sleep then I finished off the power bar and an infinit pre race drink with a bagel. Watched a little of Star Trip Troopers before heading down to transition. Almost forgot my gels and had to go back up. That was close.Dropped my bags off got the bike ready put the wet suit on and headed to the beach. I knew it would be a good swim with them plaing thunderstruck and Ironman right before the swim. The swim was on and off combat but mostly friendly. Some how the second lap was faster then the first. Out of the water and to the wetsuit strippers which was a new experience. I went right through the changing tent and got dressed grabbed my bike and I was off.The bike was hard to dial back at first but I just rode comfortably. It was hard to ride legally but I only saw 1-2 guys really riding people's wheels. Lost 5 minutes at a porta potty stop. Special needs was no problem. I was using infinit so I had a couple frozen bottles nto pick up. The out and back part of the bike sucked with the roads being rough and the wind picking up. Lost a little of my mental edgeMay have been a little low on the nutrition as I regained some fight after I put some gel away. Got back into town on a upswing and into T2.T2 was quick I did not want to get sucked into the low energy area. I changed my shorts and put some lube on the areas that were sore anss started running.THe run started off 2 fast and I dialed it back. Things were going good till about maile 10 when I started to get some lower back cramps. Got into special needs were I grabbed my replacement bottles for my fuel belt. Miles 13-16 were ok but 16-18 I had low energy. At 18 the race started so I was able to get my game face back on for 2 miles but at that point started walking more then the aid stations. I made sure that when I walked to keep my hands up and moving forward. I did this between miles 20-22. Still passing people lost count in the 30s and then I just tried to pick people off. Miles 22-26 I was able to put it back togeather and run it in.The finish was great couldnt believe it. Got my swag found my family took some pictures and got my gear. Could not believe that I had the energy to do all that.Overall I think I did well for my first Ironman. I do wonder if I could have kept my concentration and mental edge could I have gone 30 minutes faster. Hopefully find out in 09!
